these are their stories
I will defend, support and work to empower muslim women to the death. I will always stand with the women from my father’s religion and nation even though I do not personally feel in my heart that their God is my God.
But I am real damn sick of the few that put me off and act like my lifestyle is an insult to theirs. There is no reason to stop your conversation and stare as I walk by in revealing clothing since you know full well I once belonged to your mosque. There is no reason to talk ill of me the second I have walked past you and my back is turned. That behavior is not something they should be proud of; that behavior is not something they learned from their religion. Judgement is not something we were taught to pass on others from that faith. Nothing I did in my life affects you and in my distancing myself from faith I made sure that I never told anyone it was the fault of the religion, customs or people because it wasn’t; its a fault I found in myself.
